Let The Building Begin

Wednesday 10/27/10 Community Boat builder-volunteers, Miles, Gabriella, Sally Karl, Tony, Emily, Dave led By Rob Buchannan set the forms that will dictate the shape of our new project a varient of a six oared Cornish - Scilly Island Pilot Gig.
We didn't 'scarf the ribands' as hoped but, one step att a time. Gotta save some work for the Lang College Buliders who show up on Fridays

Davit Move

All Hands, A crew of stalwarts with an assist of a forklift will move the second davit today at 2PM.
Common down and help out, provide moral support, pass tools.

Community Boatbuilding Season Begins

As many of you eager neophyte boatbuilders already know, VCB will start the winter community boatbuilding season this Wednesday, 10 27/10 at 4 PM.
Beyond an organizational planning meeting where we will talk about what we'd like to build over the winter - not sure what we'll get done but there will be a stack of 1 x 3s that will meed to be scarfed end to end.
These will become the ribands for the new pilot gig.

For the rest of the fall we will meet at VCB, Pier 40 on Wednesdays, 4 - 6:30 PM.
A second session might be added.

Participants will need to sign a simple set of 'guidlines', not a waiver, but an acknowledgement that it is understood that sharp tools and epoxy are potentially hazardous.
Let Rob or know if you will be attending or want to remain on the list of builders

Sea Trials

On 10/6/10 Rob Buchannan, Sally Curtis, Phillip & I launched the new 'dory' style double ender.
This light and as yet officially unnamed and unfitted beauty floated proud and high at Pier 40 cove, rowed well, looked good.
A pair of Red Tail Hawks or maybe Osprey circled the Trump building, an auspicious sign.
I'll link the Sally Curtis' album pics later.
